PPT 2013 and previous versions
When you start a presentation the video always appears first followed by the other animations (see the number next to the video in the animation task pane).
If you want to change this and only show and start the video in the click order, for instance in third position in the example above, you will have to take action.
First remove the trigger animation attached to the video. Just select the trigger in the animation task pane and press delete.
Now select the video on the slide and add an entrance animation. In the example below I have chosen the same animation as the text boxes. If you start the show now you will have to click to make the video appear and click (on the video) again to effectively start it. It will be in position four in the click order.
If you want the video to appear as the third item in the click order, just drag the entrance animation in the animation task pane to the desired position.
If you want the video to start automatically as the third item in the click order just add a
play action. Select the video, click on the
Add animation button and choose
Play in the
Media actions on top of the list.
The animation is now last in the sequence:
To make it play automatically, click next to
Start in the
Timings group and choose
after previous. Finally drag the item under the video item.
Now only one click is needed to play the video in the click order.
PPT 2016 and later.
For versions later than PPT 2013 it is far more easier. Just choose
In click sequence under the
Playback tab of the
Video tools.
Just remember to do this before you add animations or triggers to the video as they will disappear when you make this choice.
You do not have to take
On click literally, you can use the right arrow or enter to play the video.
