In my previous article I explained how to use the
Merge Shapes function to make letters transparent. I used the
combine/subtract options. The disadvantage is that after merging you get one shape. It is not possible to format the individual letters.
To achieve this with individual letters you can use the
Fragment option.
Insert the image on your slide using
Insert -
Picture on the
Home tab.
Draw a shape, e.g. rectangle and place it on top of your picture.
Make the rectangle transparent and choose another color if necessary. Right click the picture and choose
Format Shape. In the task pane click the
Fill icon, next to
color click the button to change it and use the slider next to transparency to adjust.
Finally draw your textbox on top of the transparent rectangle. The slide now looks like this:
First select the shape and then the text box.
Under
Drawing Tools, click the
Format tab, in the
Insert Shapes group klik the
Merge Shapes button. Select
Fragment.
The letters and the rectangle are separate objects now.
Shift + click the rectangle to deselect. Position the cursor on the edge of a letter and drag downwards.
Delete the remaining shape (rectangle). Now you can work with the individual letters. Drag them where you want. The recesses in the letters can be deleted if you want.
Now format the individual letters by using::
Enlarge or move if you want:
