What's new in PowerPoint 2013-30 - Insert online pictures

Microsoft has changed the way you insert pictures. You can still insert a picture from your drive using Insert - Picture. But now it is possible to insert pictures from different sources using the Online picture button.

In PowerPoint 2013 you now can insert pictures coming from another source than Office.com. Pictures from your SkyDrive or Facebook for example.

There are basically two methods to insert an online picture. Either you use a slide layout picture placeholder (for instance Title and object). Or you insert the picture directly on your slide using Insert - Pictures and clicking on the Online pictures button.

Once you do that you will get the following dialog. Notice the royalty free message just beneath the Office.com text:

If you choose to use Bing to do an image search, PowerPoint will search for photos and illustrations under the Create Commons licence. This makes life easier as to select royalty free pictures.

See Wikipedia for more information on Creative Commons.

Click on Show all web results to see the complete result of your search.

You will also see a royalty warning here.

If you log in to your Windows account you can easily insert pictures from your SkyDrive, click the Browse button, log in:

Select the folder with your picture.

Select your picture, click Insert.
