New sound editing tools have been added to PPT 2010. Now we can trim and fade sound from within PowerPoint.
Unfortunately there are some drawbacks to the process.
First when you trim sound off in PPT 2010 it will not play in any version other than 2010. So if you want to distribute your presentation do not trim in PowerPoint but use and external program.
