Play music by clicking on a picture in PPT 2019-2021 (review)

You can use two methods to play music by clicking on an image. Use an animation with linked sound or use an action setting.

In both cases there is a big disadvantage, only sounds of the wav type are allowed. Of course you can always convert other sound types into wav. For this purpose I used the free editing program Audacity.

Als je het geluidsniveau tijdens het afspelen wil aanpassen maak je gebruik van de combinatie Alt+pijltje omhoog/omlaag.

Wat moet je doen wanneer je een geluidsfragment niet automatisch wil afspelen en het pictogram niet wil tonen op de dia. In dergelijke gevallen sleep je het pictogram in het niet zichtbaar gedeelte rond je dia. Aangezien het pictogram niet zichtbaar is tijdens de presentatie kan je er moeilijk op klikken.

Om dergelijk fragment toch af te spelen druk je de tabtoets in en druk je vervolgens op Enter. Om het geluidsfragment terug te stoppen doe je hetzelfde.

In my last entry I explained how to play a sound file that was outside the visible area of the slide.

If you want to increase the volume of that sound file just press Alt+arrow up/down repeatedly and the volume will increase/decrease accordingly.

Let's say you have a sound you want to play on click but the icon is outside the visible area of the slide. When you start the presentation there is no possibility to click on the icon, you can't click what is not visible.

If you want to play the sound use your keyboard. Press tab key and press enter and the sound will play. If you want to stop the sound from playing repeat the process and it will stop.

If you fade a sound file and play it over a number of slides the fade does not work anymore. Not even in PPT 2010. The same if you trim a sound

Bij PPT 2010 kan je nu gemakkelijk het geluid laten in/uitfaden.

Helaas, stuur je bestand niet naar mensen die nog met een vorige versie werken. Daar zal van het in/uitfaden niets te merken zijn.

In PPT 2010 is er heel wat verbeterd om geluid in te voegen en te editeren. Je kan nu het geluid trimmen.

Helaas zijn hieraan een aantal nadelen verbonden.

Als je geluid trimt in PPT 2010 zal dit in geen enkele andere versie van PPT afspelen. Je krijgt geen waarschuwing, niet doen dus als je bestemmeling nog geen gebruik maakt van de versie 2010.

Gebruik eventueel een extern programma om je geluid te trimmen en voeg dat toe aan je presentatie.

New sound editing tools have been added to PPT 2010. Now we can trim and fade sound from within PowerPoint.

Unfortunately there are some drawbacks to the process.

First when you trim sound off in PPT 2010 it will not play in any version other than 2010. So if you want to distribute your presentation do not trim in PowerPoint but use and external program.

Je kan een geluid aan een afbeelding toevoegen door gebruik te maken van een animatie.
Dit zijn de stappen in PowerPoint 2003.

1. Selecteer de afbeelding.
2. Klik rechts op de afbeelding en kies Aangepaste animatie.
3. In het taakvenster Aangepaste animatie klik je op de knop Effect toevoegen.
4. Selecteer de categorie Nadruk.
5. Kies een gepast effect, als je een effect wil dat iets doet met de afbeelding kies dan voor Doorzichtigheid of Vergroten/verkleinen of zelfs Draaien. Als je daarentegen geen zichtbaar effect wilt, kies dan een effect als Opvulkleur wijzigen...
6. Dubbelklik op het effect in het taakvenster Aangepaste animatie. 
7. Tabblad Tijdsinstelling, kies naast Effect laten beginnen bij klikken op voor de afbeelding die de animatie zal uitvoeren.
8. Kies nu het tabblad Effect, klik op het lijstpijltje naast Geluid en kies Ander geluid. Alleen geluidsbestanden van het type wave kunnen geselecteerd worden. 
9. Selecteer je geluid en klik OK, OK.

Werkwijze in PowerPoint 2007

1. Selecteer de afbeelding. 
2. Selecteer het tabblad Animaties op het lint.
3. In de groep Animaties klik je op de knop Aangepaste animatie.

7. Dubbelklik op de animatie in het taakvenster. 
8. Tabblad Tijdsinstelling, kies naast Effect laten beginnen bij klikken op voor de afbeelding die de animatie zal uitvoeren. Of klik op de knop Trigger in de groep Geavanceerde animatie en kies via Bij klikken op voor je afbeelding als trigger.
9. Kies nu het tabblad Effect, klik op het lijstpijltje naast Geluid en kies onder Uitbreidingen naast de rubriek Geluid voor Ander geluid. Alleen geluidsbestanden van het type wave kunnen geselecteerd worden. 
10. Selecteer je geluid en klik OK, OK.

2. Right-click and choose Custom animation.
3. In the custom animation task pane, click on the Add effect button.
4. Select the emphasis category.
5. Choose an appropriate effect, if you want to really emphasize while clicking choose an effect like transparency or Grow/shrink or even Spin. If you want seemingly nothing to happen, choose an effect like Change fill color...
6. Now double click the effect in the task pane.
7. On the Timing tab. click the Triggers option.
8. Choose radio button "Start effect on click of", select the picture that will trigger the animation.
9. Click on the Effect tab, click on the listarrow next to Sound and choose Other sound. Yet again only wave files will work.
10. Select your sound and click OK, OK.

And here's how in PowerPoint 2007

1. Select your picture.
2. Select the Animation tab on the ribbon.
3. In the Animation group click on the Custom animation button.
4. In the custom animation task pane, click on the Add effect button.
5. Select the emphasis category.
6. Choose an appropriate effect, if you want to really emphasize while clicking choose an effect like transparency or Grow/shrink or even Spin. If you want seemingly nothing to happen, choose an effect like Change fill color...
7. Now double click the effect in the task pane

6. Now click on the Trigger button in the advanced animation group, choose on click and select your picture as the trigger.
7. Double click the effect in the animation pane
8. On the Effect tab, under Enhancements click down arrow next to sound, select other sound. Only wave files will work.
9. Select you sound and click OK

Dat kan je op verschillende manieren realiseren in PowerPoint 2003.
Laat ons starten met de eenvoudigste manier.

1. Selecteer je afbeelding.
2. Klik erop met de rechtermuisknop en kies Actie-instellingen.
3. Op het tabblad 'Muisklik' selecteer je het keuzevakje naast Geluid afspelen.
4. Klik op het lijstpijltje en kies uit de lijst Ander geluid.
5. Zoek op je schijf en selecteer het geluid (enkel geluiden van het type wave kunnen hier gebruikt worden). Klik OK, OK.
6. Start je presentatie en klik op de afbeelding.

Dat kan als volgt in PowerPoint 2007/2010

1. Selecteer je afbeelding.
2. Activeer het lint Invoegen.
3. In de groep Koppelingen klik je op de knop Actie.
4. Op het tabblad 'Muisklik' selecteer je het keuzevakje naast Geluid afspelen.
5. Klik op het lijstpijltje en kies uit de lijst Ander geluid.
6. Zoek op je schijf en selecteer het geluid (enkel geluiden van het type wave kunnen hier gebruikt worden). Klik OK, OK.
7. Start je presentatie en klik op de afbeelding.

1. Select your picture.
2. Right-click it, choose Action settings
3. Select the checkbox next to Play sound.
4. Click the listarrow and choose Other sound.
5. Browse to your sound (only sound files of the wave type will do), select it. Click OK, OK.

Here are the steps for PowerPoint 2007/2010

1. Select your picture.
2. Go to the Insert tab.
3. In the Links group, click the Action button.
4. Select the checkbox next to Play sound.
5. Click the listarrow and choose Other sound.
6. Browse to your sound (only sound files of the wave type will do), select it. Click OK, OK.
