Can you use template from desktop version in PPT for the Web?

Unfortunately you can't use a PPT template from the desktop version. When you upload the template to One Drive and open it a warning message will appear stating that the file can't be edited. PPT for the web does not support templates or themes created in the desktop version.

The only way to use the template is to make a presentation based on the template in the desktop version and save it as a pptx. Then upload that file to OneDrive. 

Once the file is in OneDrive open it using File - Open.
