I got this question from a user who complained PPT 2007 had fewer slide layouts than PPT 2003.
He just wanted to use one of the many layouts from PPT 2003 in PPT 2007.
Well actually you can do this. Here is how:
Make a presentation consisting of one slide in PPT 2003, use the desired slide layout. Like this one below:
Save it of course.
Now go to PPT 2007 and open the PPT 2003 presentation.
Immediately go to the View tab on the ribbon, click the Slide master button.
Now on your left scroll through the slide layouts, at the very bottom you will see the slide layout you used in the 2003 presentation.
The slide layout is available for new slides if needed. When you click on the New slide button on the Home tab of the ribbon you will see the layout at the bottom:
Now you can convert your PPT 2003 presentation to a PPT 2007 one by clicking on the Office-button and choosing Convert.
Click OK when the warning message appears.
