Problems with importing slides from other presentations - new slide layouts (3)

In my previous blog articles I explained what can happen if you import slides from another presentation which has modified slide layouts.

The reverse is also a problem, slide layouts with missing placeholders or new placeholders in the destination presentation cause new slide layouts to be created when importing slides.

Here's the example from a previous blog but this time the subtitle placeholder has been deleted from the destination presentation.

As you can see the subtitle placeholder from the Title slide layout causes a problem when you import from the source presentation. And of course a new slide layout is created.

Applying the destination Title slide layout causes new problems. Text from the subtitle is placed right on top of the main title placeholder and is bulleted.

There will be some extra formatting to do if you want to use the text. Copy the text from the placeholder, delete everything that's in it including the bullet, click outside the placeholder, the prompt reappears now paste in the text and move the placeholder to the appropriate place.
