Two ways to quickly activate the selection pane (PPT 2010-2013)

If you create slides with many objects the selection pane is a valuable aid.

There are several ways you can activate the selection pane using the ribbon in PPT 2010 and PPT 2013, see my previous article here:

But they all require many clicks. To avoid this do it this way.

Add to the quick access toolbar

If you frequently need the selection pane it is better to add it to the quick access toolbar.

To do that quickly do the following:

Click Home tab
in drawing group click Arrange button
at the bottom right click the Selection pane entry
choose Add to quick access toolbar

That's it, now it takes one click to activate the pane.

Use the keyboard shortcut

If you prefer a keyboard shortcut just press ALT+F10.
