Customize the QAT in PPT 2019

The quick access toolbar is a handy tool to have frequently used functions that are not directly available on the ribbon, or that are difficult to reach, immediately at hand. The QAT can be positioned on top of the ribbon or under the ribbon. Click the list arrow next to the bar and choose Show below the ribbon.

As you can see not all the options are checked, personally I also check New, Open and Print Preview and Print.

You can change the order the icons appear by clicking on More Commands.

In the window on the right click the down/up arrow to rearrange the items.

Once the basic functions have their place it is best to add a separator. This allows you to divide the QAT into separate sections. In the right-hand pane select the item you want the separator to be added below. In the left-hand pane select the separator item and finally click Add.

Now you can add other functions, choose between the categories Popular commands, Commands not in the ribbon and All commands.

In the example below I added some functions into different categories. The options Add animation, Animation pane and Slide master view stem from the Popular commands.

From the commands that are not in the ribbon I added all the different options to merge shapes.

From the All commands section I added Animation trigger, Excel worksheet and Format shape..

All customization can be rolled back by clicking the Reset button and choose Reset only Quick Access Toolbar.
