Copy objects in a smart way in PPT 2019-2021

A little-known novelty in PPT 2019-2021 is the smart copying of objects.

After inserting an object eg a rectangle, copy the rectangle with the combination Ctrl+D. Then position the copied rectangle until it lands at the ideal distance and leave it selected.

Now press Ctrl+D again and repeat as much as necessary, all objects will be at the same height with the same distance as between the first two.

Different options to duplicate a slide in PPT 2019

There are several options to duplicate a slide. I am not going to explain the obvious choices everyone knows.

You always start by selecting the slide(s) you want to copy.

Use the shortcut Ctrl+D

No faster way than this.

Use the list arrow next to the Copy button in the clipboard group on the Home tab

Click the Duplicate slide item.

Use the New slide button in the slides group on the Home tab.

Click the Duplicate selected slides item:

Right-click the slide(s)

Choose Duplicate slide.

Drag the slide using the left mouse button

Drag the selected slide with the left mouse button, when you reach the position where you want to copy the slide press the ctrl+key, then release the mouse button.

Drag the slide using the right mouse button

Release the mouse button on destination and choose Copy from the quick menu.

Use the slide sorter view

You can use the same possibilities as explained above. The extra bonus being that you have a better overview of the slides so copying is easier.

Use content from the preview pane in Windows Explorer

If a previous blog I gave some good reasons to use the preview pane in Windows Explorer. There is another reason you should use it.

You can copy content of a PowerPoint presentation or any other Office-document while in the preview pane.
Just right-click on the content or select and right-click the content and choose copy.
