Set your default Shape, line, textbox in PPT 2007

In PowerPoint 2007 it is possible to set your default formatting for shapes, lines and textboxes without one interfering with another. Definitely an improvement on PPT 2003.
First set the formatting to your liking then right click and choose set as default for shapes, lines or textboxes in the context menu.

In PowerPoint 2007 is het nu mogelijk om de standaardinstellingen van vormen, lijnen en tekstvakken vast te leggen. Een duidelijke verbetering ten opzichte van PTT 2003.

Maak de vorm, lijn of het tekstvak op zoals je dat wilt, rechtsklik erop en kies uit het snelmenu de gewenste optie: instellen als standaardvorm, instellen als standaardlijn, instellen als standaardtekstvak.

Goed verborgen maar niettemin ontdekt door een MVP (Echo). Hier kan je je opmerkingen kwijt over Office 2007. Nu maar hopen dat dit niet verdwijnt in een zwart gat.

Insert slide on the Insert tab of the ribbon? - Invoegen nieuwe dia op het tabblad invoegen?

It is not quite clear why Microsoft decided to put the insert slide button on the Home tab of the ribbon. It should have been on the Insert tab instead.
Luckily for us Steve Rindsberg - MVP, made this little add-in which does nothing but add the New slide button to the Insert tab. Click on the link beneath to download it:

Now do the following:

• Click the Office button
• Click PowerPoint Options
• Click Add-Ins
• Next to Manage, choose PowerPoint Add-ins then click Go.
• Click Add then browse to the 'DoNothing.ppam' file you just downloaded and choose it.

Invoegen nieuwe dia op het tabblad invoegen?

Het is niet zo duidelijk waarom Microsoft heeft besloten de knop Nieuwe dia toe te voegen aan het tabblad Start. Terwijl het duidelijk op het tabblad Invoegen zou moeten staan.
Gelukkig heeft Steve Rindsberg - MVP voor ons een kleine add-in in elkaar gestoken die het probleem voor ons oplost.

Vooraleer je het bestand download zet je de volgende stappen.

• Klik op de Office-knop
• Klik op de knop Opties voor PowerPoint
• Kies links voor Invoegtoepassingen
• Kies onderaan bij Beheren het lijstpijltje en kies Invoegtoepassingen. Klik vervolgens op knop Start.
• Kies knop Nieuwe toevoegen.
• Navigeer naar het gedownloade bestand, selecteer en klik OK.

Can I use the old organizational chart program in PowerPoint 2007?

Organizational charts are part of SmartArt now. And although you can make fine charts using SmartArt some features of the previous versions are not present.

But if you want you can use the organizational chart add-in.

Just run Office setup, under PowerPoint,click on Organization chart add-in for Microsoft Office programs and choose Run from my computer.

After the item is installed go to the Insert tab on the ribbon and click on the Object button in the Text group. You will find the entry under object type, select it and click OK.

Kan ik het oude organigram programma gebruiken in Office 2007?

Organigrammen maken nu deel uit van SmartArt. Je kan zonder enige twijfel mooie organigrammen aanmaken onder SmartArt. Toch ontbreken enkele functies uit de vorige versies.

Als je dat wil kan je het oude organigrammen programma onder Office 2007 toevoegen als add-in.

Ga naar het configuratiescherm en dubbelklik op Programma's en onderdelen.
Selecteer Microsoft Office 2007 en klik bovenaan op de knop Wijzigen.
Selecteer Functies toevoegen of verwijderen. Klik op Doorgaan.
Klik op Microsoft PowerPoint en vervolgens op Organigram invoegtoepassing voor Microsoft Office-programma's.
Klik op Uitvoeren vanaf mijn computer.

Eens geïnstalleerd klik je in het tabblad Invoegen op de knop Object. In de lijst objecttype selecteer je Organigram invoegtoepassing voor Microsoft Office-programma's en je klikt OK.
Het vertrouwde oude programma verschijnt en je kan aan de slag.

PowerPoint for peace - PowerPoint voor vrede

Two colleagues of mine Glenna Shaw and Geetesh Bajaj have started a wonderful initiative. They are trying to build a huge PowerPoint file promoting peace. Here's how they phrased it:

Kan ik een dia-indeling van PPT 2003 gebruiken in PPT 2007?

Een gebruiker stelde mij die vraag, hij kloeg erover dat PPT 2007 minder dia-indelingen heeft dan PPT 2003. Hij wou gewoon één van de vele indelingen van PPT 2003 gebruiken in een PPT 2007 presentatie.

Wel ik kon hem geruststellen, dit is mogelijk en wel op volgende manier:

Maak een presentatie in PPT 2003 die bestaat uit één enkele dia waarop de gewenste dia-indeling is toegepast. Hieronder een voorbeeld van een dergelijke indeling.

Bewaar de presentatie.

Start PPT 2007 en open de PPT 2003 presentatie.
Klik op het tabblad Beeld op het lint en selecteer de knop Diamodel in de groep Presentatieweergaven.

Aan de linkerkant scroll je naar beneden, helemaal onderaan zal je de dia-indeling uit de PPT 2003 presentatie zien.

De dia-indeling is natuurlijk ook beschikbaar voor nieuw aan te maken dia's. Als je klikt op de knop Nieuwe dia op het tabblad Start zie je de dia-indeling staan tussen de standaard 9 dia-indelingen.

Nu kan je de PPT 2003 presentatie converteren naar een PPT 2007 presentatie. Klik op de Office-knop en kies de optie Converteren.

Wanneer het waarschuwingsvenster verschijnt klik je op OK.

I got this question from a user who complained PPT 2007 had fewer slide layouts than PPT 2003.

He just wanted to use one of the many layouts from PPT 2003 in PPT 2007.

Well actually you can do this. Here is how:
Make a presentation consisting of one slide in PPT 2003, use the desired slide layout. Like this one below:

Save it of course.

Now go to PPT 2007 and open the PPT 2003 presentation.
Immediately go to the View tab on the ribbon, click the Slide master button.

Now on your left scroll through the slide layouts, at the very bottom you will see the slide layout you used in the 2003 presentation.

The slide layout is available for new slides if needed. When you click on the New slide button on the Home tab of the ribbon you will see the layout at the bottom:

Now you can convert your PPT 2003 presentation to a PPT 2007 one by clicking on the Office-button and choosing Convert.
Click OK when the warning message appears.

Now you can drag the object independently from the path to it's real beginning point. Make sure you position it with the green arrow in the middle of the object. If you do not do this, the object may jump around during the animation.

Now you can go to slide 2, the object is already in it's starting position and you can take it from there.

Nu kan je het object naar zijn beginpunt slepen. Zorg er wel voor dat het groene beginpijltje van het animatiepad precies in het midden van het object terecht komt. Doe je dit niet dan zal het object verspringen naar het beginpunt tijdens de animatie.

Nu ben je klaar om met dia 2 verder te gaan. Het object staat al meteen op zijn juiste startpositie.

Right-click on the motion path and choose Reverse path direction

Result:

In the Custom animation task pane, at the top next to Path, click on the listarrow and choose Locked. This will allow you to move the object without moving the path itself.

Rechtsklik op het animatiepad. Kies in het snelmenu voor Omgekeerde padrichting.

In het taakvenster Aangepaste animatie klik je op het lijstpijltje naast Pad en kies Vergrendeld. Zo zal je het object kunnen verplaatsen zonder dat het pad mee wordt verplaatst.

This is how you go about it. First position the object on it's final position on slide 1, then copy the slide. In PowerPoint 2003/2007/2010 just press Ctrl+D.

Now on the first slide draw a motion path from the end position to the spot you want the object to start on animation. Be sure to start right in the middle of the object.

Zo pakken wij het aan. Op dia 1 plaats je het object op de plaats waar het na animatie moet terechtkomen.

Kopieer dan de dia via de toetscombinatie Ctrl+D, deze combinatie werkt voor zowel PPT 2003 als PPT 2007/2010.

Teken nu een animatiepad vertrekkend vanuit het midden van het object naar het punt waar het object zijn af te leggen pad moet starten.

Recently someone asked me a question concerning animations having to continue from one slide to another. In this case he was talking about animation paths. His problem was that he wanted to continue a motion path exactly where it stopped on the previous slide but had troubles finding the exact position to do just that.

Below you can see the problem in the picture.

Niet lang geleden kreeg ik een vraag van een gebruiker over animatiepaden die moesten doorlopen van de ene naar de andere dia. Zijn probleem bestond erin dat hij moeilijkheden had de eindpositie van het geanimeerd object te bepalen op zowel de eerste als de volgende dia. Hierboven zie je een afbeelding die dat illustreert.
In de volgende blog berichten zal ik trachten te tonen hoe je dit probleem kunt oplossen.

Can you play a movie at a faster pace in PPT?

In PowerPoint you have not got much control over how the movie is played. A user asked me recently if a video could be played faster than normal.
The only way you can do that is by inserting the video as an object, which you can play in a media player.
Here is how you can do it:

1. Insert the movie using Insert - Object - New - choose Windows Media player in the object list.
2. You will see a Windows Media player screen appear on your slide.
3. Right-click the object, and choose Properties.
4. Right at the top click in the custom field, a little button will appear with three dots on it. Click on it. The Windows Media player properties dialogue will appear.
5. Click on the Browse button, select your video and insert it.
6. Click on the Advanced tab.
7. At the top next to rate, change 1,000 to 1,500 or 2,000 to make it play faster.
8. Click OK.
9. Close the properties dialogue.
10. Play your movie.

Kan je een video sneller afspelen in PowerPoint?

In PowerPoint heb je niet zoveel controle over hoe een video wordt afgespeeld. Een gebruiker vroeg mij niet lang geleden of je een video sneller kan afspelen dan normaal.
Wel dat kan als je de video als een object toevoegt zodat die met een media player kan afgespeeld worden.
Zo pak je het aan:

1. Voeg je video toe via Invoegen - Object - Nieuw - selecteer helemaal onderaan de objectlijst Windows media player.
2. Een Windows media player scherm verschijnt op de dia.
3. Rechts klik op het object, kies Eigenschappen.
4. Bovenaan klik je op het veld Aangepast, een klein knopje met drie puntjes verschijnt. Klik erop. Het dialoogvenster Eigenschappen van Windows Media Player verschijnt.
5. Klik op de knop Bladeren, selecteer je video en voeg hem in.
6. Klik op het tabblad Geavanceerd.
7. Bovenaan bij Classificatie verander je 1.000 naar 1.500 of zelfs 2.000 afhankelijk van hoe snel je de video wil afspelen.
8. Klik op OK.
9. Sluit het venster Eigenschappen.
10. Speel de video af.
