What's new in PowerPoint 2013-4 - New button Ribbon display options
A new button has been added to the ribbon allowing you to change the display behaviour.

Op het lint is er een nieuwe knop bijgekomen die je toelaat de weergave ervan te regelen.
Standaard zijn zowel tabbladen als opdrachten zichtbaar.

Wat is nieuw in PowerPoint 2013-3 - Nieuw formaat, wijzig standaard naar 4x3
Als je het standaardformaat van 16x9 wil veranderen naar 4x3 doe je het volgende.
Start een nieuwe presentatie en kies daarbij het Blanco presentatie thema.
Klik in het lint Ontwerpen in de groep Aanpassen op de knop Diagrootte.
Kies voor Standaard 4x3
Op het tabblad Ontwerpen klik je op de knop Meer.
Kies voor Huidig thema opslaan.
In de map Document themes (PowerPoint neemt je er standaard naar toe) geef je een geschikte naam aan je thema en je klikt op Opslaan.
Klik opnieuw op het tabblad Ontwerpen, in de rubriek Aangepast klik je met je rechtermuisknop op je zojuist gemaakte thema.

What's new in PowerPoint 2013-3 - Aspect ratio change default to 4x3
If you want to change the default aspect ratio in PowerPoint 2013 from 16x9 to 4x3, proceed as follows:
Start a new presentation and choose the blank presentation theme.
Change the format to 4x3 by going to Design tab and in the Customize group click the Slide size button.
Click on Standard (4:3)
Again go to the Design tab - Themes group - click on the More button.
Click on Save current theme.
Save the theme in the Document themes folder (PowerPoint should take you there automatically) with a suitable name.
Now go to the Design tab again, in the custom section right-click on your newly created theme and choose Set as Default theme.
Now close PowerPoint and start again.
You should find your new default 4x3 theme as the first theme. Click on it and you are ready to go.
Start a new presentation and choose the blank presentation theme.

Je kan een variant op je thema toepassen op iedere dia uit je presentatie.

What's new in PowerPoint 2013-3 - Aspect ratio
When you start a presentation you will immediately notice that the default aspect ratio has changed in PowerPoint 2013.
It used to be 4x3
now it is 16x9.
Your slide size is now 13.33" wide and 7.33" tall.
You can still change the aspect ratio to the old default if you want. But that will be a subject of a next blog.

What's new in PowerPoint 2013-2 - Themes, variants
In the start screen of Powerpoint you can choose a theme. Nothing new there, but in PPT 2013 you now can choose between 4 variants on the theme.
So click on any of the four variants to change the look of your slides.

Wat is nieuw in PowerPoint 2013-2 - Thema's, varianten
Bij het opstarten kan je in het beginscherm kiezen voor een thema. Niks nieuws onder de zon zou je zeggen, maar vanaf versie 2013 kan je nu meteen kiezen tussen vier varianten.
Als het kleurenpalet je niet bevalt kan je onmiddellijk beroep doen op een variant.

Wat is nieuw in PowerPoint 2013-1 - Startscherm 2
Hoe kan je vermijden dat PowerPoint opent met het startscherm?
Open een nieuwe blanco presentatie - ga naar Bestand - Opties - onder de Algemene opties - onder Opties voor opstarten - haal vinkje weg bij Startscherm weergeven wanneer deze toepassing wordt gestart.

So how can you prevent PowerPoint from showing you the start screen?
Open a new blank presentation - Go to File - Options - General options - under Start up options - uncheck the option Show the Start screen when this application starts.
That should do it.
Of course if you want to keep the start screen but discard it quickly without changing the default behaviour, just press Escape after starting PowerPoint.

How to not show themes from Office.com under Design tab
Some time ago I showed you how to make disappear the built-in themes (see my blog article from December 2012 called Remove the built-in themes from PPT 2010).
In that entry I promised to show you how to make disappear the Office.com themes. Unfortunately I forgot to do it. So here's the procedure.
By default the Office.com themes are shown in Themes group. You can see this because the link Enable Content Updates from Office_com is grey. Grey in this case means it is active.
To change that go to File - Options - click Trust center - click button Trust center options - Privacy options - uncheck Connect to Office.com for updated content when I am connect to the internet.
Now the themes should not be visible.

Thema's uit Office.com niet tonen onder het lint Ontwerpen
Een tijdje geleden had ik het in een blogbericht over het laten verdwijnen van de standaardsjablonen onder het lint Ontwerpen - groep Thema's (zie daarvoor mijn bijdrage Verwijderen van de ingebouwde standaardthema's PPT 2010 van december 2012).
Daarin beloofde ik ook om in een volgende bericht te tonen hoe je de Office.com thema's kunt laten verdwijnen. Helaas ben ik dat toen uit het oog verloren.

Link to a specific range in Excel
How can you link to a specific range in an Excel file?
You have to create a named range in Excel, you can do that in two ways.
Select the range you want to give a name, click in the Name box just above column A. Type the name of your range and press enter.
Or, go to the Formula tab, click on the Define name button in the Defined names group.
In the New Name dialog that appears you enter the name and the range (observe the underscore in the name, spaces are not allowed). Click OK.
Save your Excel document and close it.
In PowerPoint select the object you want to apply the link to. Click Insert - Hyperlink - in the dialog box under link to the option Existing file or web page should already be active.
Browse to the folder that contains the Excel document you want to link to and select it.
Now in the address box edit the link as follows, at the very end add #Name Range in my case I added #Outback_Lager.
Once you viewed the document, close the Excel window and you will return to your original slide.

Linken naar een specifiek bereik in Excel
Hoe kan je vanuit PowerPoint naar een specifiek bereik in Excel linken ?
In Excel maak je een benoemd bereik aan. Dit kan op twee verschillende manieren.
Selecteer de cellen uit het bereik waar je naar wil linken. Klik in het naamvak bovenaan je spreadsheet en typ de naam in van je bereik (let op de underscore tussen de twee woorden, spaties zijn niet toegelaten) en druk Enter.
Of klik op tabblad Formules, in de groep Gedefinieerde namen klik je op de knop Naam definiëren.
In het dialoogvenster geef je de naam en het bereik op (let op de underscore tussen de twee woorden, spaties zijn niet toegelaten), en klik je OK.
Bewaar je Excel document en sluit het.
