Verwijderen van de ingebouwde standaardthema's PPT 2010

Regelmatig vraagt men mij of de standaard Office thema's die zich bevinden onder het lint Ontwerpen kunnen verwijderd worden?

Wel ja, dat is mogelijk.
Start Windows Verkenner op en zoek het volgende pad:
Schijf\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Document Themes14. Alle thema's bevinden zich in deze map.
Hernoem deze map of verplaats alle thema's naar een nieuw gemaakte map, bij voorkeur een submap van Document themes 14.

Het resultaat ziet er als volgt uit, de standaard thema's zijn verdwenen, enkel de thema's uit Office.com blijven over. Hoe je deze ook laat verdwijnen behandel ik in een van mijn volgende blogs.

Meestal is het de bedoeling dat alleen nog een zelf gemaakt aangepast thema zichtbaar blijft in het lint Ontwerpen, naast het blanco Office thema.

Het volledig verwijderen van de standaard thema's zou ik afraden, als je die later nog eens nodig hebt zijn ze snel bereikbaar in hun aparte map.

Remove the built-in themes from PPT 2010

Some people do not want the built-in themes to appear in the user interface. They only want their custom theme(s) to appear as indicated with the red arrow on the screenshot below.

You can remove the themes from the ribbon on the design tab.

Go to Windows Explorer, search for Drive\Progam Files\Microsoft Office\Document Themes14. You will find all your themes there.

Now either rename that folder or move all the themes to another folder, preferably a subfolder of your Document Themes Folder.

Start PowerPoint and go to the Design tab, your Built-in themes are gone. You will see that there are still themes present, those are the Office.com themes. If you want to get rid of those keep reading this blog, in one of my next entries I will show you how to remove them.

The built-in themes are gone though. I would not suggest to remove these themes, merely move them. In case you need them later.

Gebruik een PowerPoint tabel met afbeelding in de achtergrond in Word

Een gebruiker uit een Word nieuwsgroep stelde de vraag of het mogelijk was een afbeelding toe te voegen als achtergrond in een Word tabel. Helaas in Word is dat niet mogelijk, gelukkig is dat wel zo in PowerPoint, dus stelde ik hem het volgende voor.

In Word:
Klik op Invoegen - Object (groep Tekst) - Object - selecteer in de lijst met objecten de optie Microsoft PowerPoint-dia.

Pas het objectvenster aan zodat het past binnen de Word marges van het document.

Verwijder de tijdelijke aanduidingen of pas de standaard dia-indeling Leeg toe.

Voeg nu via Invoegen - knop Tabel een tabel toe, sleep het aantal kolommen en rijen dat je wenst aan te maken en klik.

Pas nu de grootte van de tabel aan zodat ze perfect past in het objectvenster.

Activeer het contextueel tabblad Opmaak, in de groep Stijlen voor tabellen, kies je uit de tweede rij de stijl Geen stijl, tabelraster.

Klik nu op het lijstpijltje naast de knop Arcering en kies Tabelachtergrond en vervolgens Afbeelding.

Selecteer je afbeelding en klik op Invoegen.

De tabel heeft nu een achtergrond, het kan nodig zijn om bij het toevoegen van tekst de tekenkleur aan te passen zodat de tekst goed leesbaar blijft.

Eens de tabel afgewerkt klik je gewoon naast/onder de tabel en deze wordt geplaatst.

Om de tabel aan te passen, dubbelklik erop, voeg naar hartenlust rijen en kolommen toe.

Using a PowerPoint table with picture background in Word

A user asked in a Word newsgroup how to give a table an image as a background.

Unfortunately this is not possible in Word. But it can be done in PowerPoint, so I suggested to use that to his advantage.

Here's how:

Open your Word file. Go to Insert - Object (text group) - Object - choose Microsoft PowerPoint slide.

Adjust the height and width of the object window so that it fits your Word margins.

Select the placeholders and delete them or apply the empty slide layout.

Go to Insert - Table - drag the number of columns/rows you want and click to make your table.

Adjust the table so that it fits the object window.

Now, on the contextual Design tab, in the styles for tables group, click the first table style of the second row (should indicate No style, table grid).

Now click on the Fill button in the same group, choose Table background, click Picture, navigate to your picture, select it and click Insert.

Now the table will have a background. The advantage of using an object is that the table can easily be edited and extra rows and columns can be added without loosing the background. To edit, simply double click the object and edit away. To make the text readable you may have to adjust the colour of the font.

Once the table is finished just click next to it and it will seem as if it has been made in Word.

Eindelijk terug

Eindelijk de tijd gevonden om mijn oude blog op Multiply om te zetten naar Blogger.

Mijn laatste bericht dateert dus al van enkele maanden geleden.

Vanaf nu zal ik terug op regelmatige basis publiceren. PPT 2003 en 2007 worden niet meer behandeld. Voorlopig worden alle bijdragen nog altijd in zowel Nederlands als Engels gepubliceerd.

Ik zal mij dus concentreren op PPT 2010 en vanaf begin volgend jaar op PPT 2013.

Laat vooral niet na je opmerkingen en suggesties hier te posten.

I'm back

Back in business

Finally found the time to import my old blog on Multiply in Blogger.

So it has been a few months since my last entry.

From now on I will continue to publish on a regular basis. I will no longer blog on PPT 2003 or PPT 2007. For the time being still in English and Dutch.

I will concentrate on PPT 2010 and of course will blog beginning next year on the new PPT 2013.

If you ever pasted an Excel chart in PowerPoint you will have noticed that you need to resize it to make it fit on the slide. That is especially the case when you put the chart on a separate sheet.
 

You can resize it manually of course but you do not have to.
To avoid resizing you can use a placeholder. You can choose a slide layout like Title and content. Just select the placeholder by clicking on the edge.

Then copy paste the Excel chart to your PowerPoint slide. The chart will automatically resize to fit the placeholder.

Bij het plakken van een Excel grafiek kom je nogal eens in de problemen, de grafiek is te groot of te klein. Vooral wanneer je de grafiek in Excel op een apart werkblad hebt geplaatst. Manueel aanpassen is natuurlijk een mogelijkheid.

Beter is van gebruik te maken van een tijdelijke aanduiding. De Excel grafiek past zich automatisch aan binnen de tijdelijke aanduiding.

Gebruik bv. de dia-indeling Titel en object. Selecteer en kopieer je Excel grafiek. Selecteer de tijdelijke aanduiding door op de rand te klikken.

Plak je grafiek, deze past automatisch in de tijdelijke aanduiding, niet nodig om manueel te herschikken.

Wanneer je een Excel grafiek kopieert en plakt in PPT 2010 dan wordt standaard de opmaak van het PPT thema toegepast. Als dat is wat je wilt, geen probleem. Wil je echter de opmaak van het Excel bestand behouden dan kan je beroep doen op de plakopties die in PPT 2010 fel zijn verbeterd.

Klik niet op de knop Plakken maar klik op het pijltje onder de knop, daarbij krijg je een aantal plakopties, kies het tweede icoontje. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de opmaak van de oorspronkelijke Excel grafiek behouden blijft.

When you copy paste an Excel chart, PPT adapts the chart to the theme in use in your presentation. If that is what you want, no problem. If this is not what you are after, and you want to keep the formatting of the Excel chart, you can use the paste options, which have been improved in PPT 2010.

When you paste the selected chart, do not click on the Paste button but instead click on the little arrow beneath it which gives you several Paste Options. You need the second icon.
This will keep the original formatting of the Excel chart.

In PPT 2010 wordt een video altijd afgespeeld door erop te klikken. Dat kan moeilijk worden als je de video wil afspelen via de afstandsbediening.

Om een video op te nemen in de lijst van animaties zodat die met een klik kan afgespeeld worden kan je het volgende doen.

Selecteer de ingevoegde video in het animatiedeelvenster. Dubbelklik op het item, op het tabblad Tijdsinstelling kies je onderaan het keuzerondje Animatie gebruiken als onderdeel van de klikvolgorde.

Have a video play from a remote device when you want

PowerPoint always plays a video by way of a trigger in PPT 2010. So you have to click on it to have it play. That maybe awkward when you are using a remote device to make the presentation progress and want to play the video as part of an animation sequence.

You can change this so you can use your remote control.

Select the video in the animation task pane, double click the item, on the Timing tab, choose the radio button Animate as part of click sequence.
